Collins from this point forward should be on a 12 month rolling contract (based on number of appearances per season), with a view to finding him a role in the club once he finishes up.
Guys like him are few and far between these days. No reason for him to love the club other than his experiences since being here in two stints.
It is a balancing act now...bringing Oxford and Burke through in a timely fashion, without compromising the team, but in the knowledge that the two cups are are only realistic chances of success (however slim).
I see no way to do this other than blooding them in the league.

I would renew on a limited basis while we bring in the youth squad to fill his role.

Burke has to be in the squad from now on and I can't see much point in Oxford going anywhere .
Fonte has now started to become the player we thought we bought.We have in order of rating.

If Collins signs then Rice will go out on loan for at least 6 months
We will then have 6 players vying for 3 places, that's quite a few even Man City don't have that.
Maybe a coaching role to replace Dicks?
I say yes for his passion,I wanted rid last year but there are times we need him.

Collins is a leader so yes he deserves a contract. Even if he doesnt play he will be good in the dressing room to help our young players

FFS before starting a thread about, or suggesting an ageing player deserves a new deal you should really know how long his present deal has to run. he signed a two year extension in 2015 that takes him up until 2018, next summer, by which time he will be nearly 35.
This is a discussion for this time next season.

How many seasons has this been a topic not that's a bad thing because the answer is yes a new two year contract he deserves it
While Collins is still playing the way he has been and can we should have him! he always has been part of our best defensive performances regardless of whose next to him, plenty of other teams would snap him up!

His contract runs until next summer, I have no idea why anyone would want to give him an extension right now.
